What a bargain

When we first noticed this chair sitting out in front of a house with the word "Free"...we figured something was wrong with it..like animal smell or cigarette.  As we got closer to inspect there was just a faint musty odor.   And the arms had some sort of grease stain.  The lady assured me that it sat unused for 8 yrs on their back porch.  Well..I'm here to say...I'm using something like Shout on the dirty areas with a tooth brush...then going over those areas with my carpet/upholstery cleaning wand...and so far its working.   The brand is Lazy Boy.   Its a rocker/recliner.   And just what we'd been looking for in our living room.   We used to have a fairly nice, but overly large recliner to go with our sofa...however something had broken down and we ended up giving it to my brother.  Well..he said all it needed was a spring.  Well--phooey.   We'd been missing our chair so badly..cause all we had to sit on was the sofa.  I would say this is a blessing!   After all, furniture is rather expensive..especially the name brands...and that's what we'd been hoping to get (someday).   Here's another picture..(I'm still in the process of cleaning it).

Bad Girls

I think my next read or (book) will be this one..it looks quite interesting!  I love Liz Curtis Higgs books I always have...especially the funny ones.  Talk about laughing until I cried.. well that's an understatement.   A friend gave me a book~and I'm finally reading it.   Sometimes it takes awhile to settle down to read.  My mind is always going in 10 different directions ( it seems)...so it does take a while.  Once I do though, watch out~wild horses can't drag me away from a good, in depth story. If you've never heard of Liz..click on her name above and check out her page...you'll be glad you did.

Ramblings

I knew the pictures had to be someplace, so I found my little disk slipped it in my camera and there they were. Yea!
Posting with my signature..presents some problems...I have to go to edit HTML tab and click the signature thing down so I can post...its not a huge problem just annoying.   Its nice to have a signature.  Now if I can only post my button.  Strange huh...cannot seem to wrap my mind around html... its like learning how to cross-stitch all over again.   I'm not big on cross-stitch, so that's why I mentioned it.

More ramblings here... I got to thinking about my Aunt..she is 90 something..and isn't in the best of health.  In fact, the last thing I heard was she may not have long on this earth.   I feel sad.  I feel bad how the news effects my mother.  Prayer is always welcome at a time like this.  To help ease the pain and help bring comfort.  This is all I can do.  Worrying doesn't help.  What can worry do?  Absolutely nothing.
And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.  Matthew 21:22      I'm having to remind myself of the importance of prayer and how it changes things.
What to do when you feel worried?  Cast all your care upon Him, (Jesus), for He cares for you.  I peter 5:7

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.  proverbs 3:24

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."  Psalm 91:1-2

We can have rest, we can experience peace..if we allow ourselves to bathe in God's presence.

Psalm 37:4

Happiness is found in the heart of a friend - its always hard to start out the first day of school or work, not knowing anyone.  A feeling of sadness comes over me when that happens...but, my heart is glad when I find someone to share a smile with, or pass time with...what a good feeling to know we have friends...they comfort us when we are feeling low.

Snacks...can no longer be full of sugar or chocolate...that's what the doctor says...but what do I say?  ...eat smaller bites of cookies (vanilla or oatmeal will do!) ...guess, I'm thinking snacks cause I'm a little hungry...and since its so late I will say nay to snacking.

I feel better to know that I'm eating better..choosing wisely what I will eat..and when to eat.  I have lost some weight...which is wonderful.  I got a compliment the other day...that made (this diet) so much better to deal with.  My options are rather "thin"...stay away from fatty foods, as I mentioned before chocolate...(I do better with semi-sweet chocolate!)...and tomatoes...gosh...it was hard at first to stay away from foods containing tomatoes...but I'm doing better all the time.   If you are someone that has to watch your intake of certain foods...then be encouraged my friend..  keep on keeping on!  You can do it!  Good Job.  By the way, you look nice!

Rain...rain go away! ...its raining as I type this out...3:32 AM...why up so late??  You should hear this rain...WOW...its comin' down in barrels, buckets, poodles, cats and dogs!!!   I don't mean to complain, but please stop this rain...my veggie garden doesn't need it, my flowers are just fine thank you.

I wish I could stay organized...in my thoughts.  At my desk, in the clothes closet... I do try my best...maybe...its a sign of creative motives...my motivation should be to create...gifts, crafts...to create things...I must have room to spread out stuff....  well...its a good thought anyway.

Blessings to you!

Thanks Mrs. 4444's for hosting Our Favorite Things.. over at Half-Past Kissin' Time     Be sure to check out my faves below.

My favorite things:  Can be found in my kitchen.. I will start out with my Carousel-Gadget-Holder from Pampered Chef..Yes, I do like Pampered Chef items..(in fact I used to be a representative)..but that was ages ago!  Here is mine...full of gadgets!  Not all gadgets are Pampered Chef...however, you can see the Pizza Cutter, Measuring Spoons, Gravy Whisk, regular Whisk...and some others...that I could not do without!  :O)

Then, there are my Cutting Boards.  I use them all the time!  Here are mine..  the big brown cutting board is from the school.  It was given to me as a gift to "remember" our little school that shut down.  (boo-hoo).

And least but not last...is my little...gadget I call- the PILL-SPLITTER-CRUSHER!!  It works super grand.  I use it all the time...to split pills...I guess it was used for lemons or limes to squeeze out every drop of juice into a glass of tea or water.   It belonged to my Mom...now its mine...and has been for years.
